across centuries, extraordinary works of art created across the african continent were taken from the communities that made them. some were collected. many were looted. today they live in museums, universities, auction houses, and private collections across the world.

the story often ends there.

r3Demption song begins somewhere else.

this is not a project about recovering the past. it is a project about proving that the creative traditions that produced these works never disappeared. they adapted. they migrated. they survived.

the original objects may have left.
their spirits remained.

each sculpture in the series begins with a historical african work — not as something to be copied, but as something to enter into conversation with. through contemporary digital sculpting, 3d technologies, and new materials, each piece is remade as an original work for the present.

every sculpture is finished in the same unmistakable red. red is not an aesthetic choice — it is the language of the series.

it removes the distraction of age, wood, bronze, ivory, and stone. it places works from different cultures, centuries, and materials into a single visual conversation. it asks viewers to see form, imagination, and continuity before they see archaeology.

the italicized 3D in r3Demption is intentional. it acknowledges that this is a new generation of making — contemporary sculptures produced through digital craftsmanship, additive manufacturing, and modern fabrication. not reproductions pretending to be originals, but new cultural objects that stand on their own.

every work is both an homage and a proposition.
what if heritage is not something we only preserve?
what if heritage is something we continue to make?

displayed together, the sculptures become a contemporary archive. they reject the idea that african art belongs only behind glass, separated from the people and cultures that gave it life. instead, they imagine a future where historical inspiration becomes new creation, where technology becomes another carving tool, and where the next chapter of african material culture is authored by african makers and the global diaspora.

r3Demption song is not about replacing what was taken.
it is about demonstrating that creativity cannot be taken.

the objects left.
their spirits remained.
now, they create again.
